GARETH O’Brien will be a Salford Red Devils player next season, while it was heartache for two of Warrington Wolves' future arrivals this weekend.

Wolves Academy graduate O'Brien was one of six signings announced by Salford owner Marwan Koukash over the weekend.

The 23-year-old has signed a two-year deal at the AJ Bell Stadium.

Meanwhile, Mitchell Dodds will join Wolves as a defeated Grand Finalist. He appeared off the bench either side of half time for Brisbane Broncos in an incredible showdown that finished 17-16 in favour of Ashton Sims’ former club North Queensland Cowboys on Sunday morning.

Jack Hughes, on loan at Huddersfield Giants from Wigan Warriors, also missed out on a Grand Final outing after defeat to his parent club on Thursday.

One Wolves player who could be getting his hands on some silverware this season is Ben Currie, he has been nominated for the Super League Young Player of the Year award.

Currie faces competition from Wigan pair George Williams and Joe Burgess for the award, with the winner announced tonight at the Steve Prescott Man of Steel gala dinner.
