GEORGE King has agreed a one-year contract extension on his current Warrington Wolves deal.

The club have also signed Academy product Harvey Livett to a full-time deal.

Second rower King has agreed a new contract to keep him at the Wolves alongside his brother Toby until November 2017.

Academy graduate King was promoted to the first-team training squad midway through last year and the the 20-year-old made his first-team debut in June 2014.

He has gone on to make 19 first-team appearances this season.

Head of coaching and rugby Tony Smith said: “George has really come on this year. He’s had a fantastic season having played 19 matches, developing from being a replacement player to starting the last four games.

"He’s progressed exceptionally well and we are really pleased that he has penned another deal.

"We believe he has a really bright future and will hopefully go on to bigger and better things here at Warrington.

"We are delighted for George and the club."

Centre Livett, 18, developed through the club’s academy system having played his junior rugby at Rylands and has already picked up honours with England academy.

He made 17 appearances for the under 19s this year; a side which reached the semi-final stage of the academy competition this season.

Despite still waiting on his first-team debut, since signing full time this season Livett has been named in the Super League squad.

“We recognise that Harvey has some real potential," added Smith. "He’s been training with the full-time squad throughout parts of this year to get a taste of it and he’s been exceptional in his attitude.

"He’s earned his position in the squad and I can see him going on to have a good future with us.

“The under 19s had a really strong year. After a slow start they really progressed well, with a number of young players who will continue to develop, as well as players who have already progressed through to first-team training.

"It’s been a good, solid year for these boys - making it one game away from the Grand Final - a tremendous experience for all involved.

"Congratulations to Lee (Briers) and the team for all their efforts this year; they have really shown what a good bunch of lads we have here.”

Roger Draper, Wolves’ chief executive, added: “As a club we place a lot of importance on developing young talent within our game, both as players and as people.

"George and Harvey are two more examples of our investment in youth coming to fruition.

"George, and his brother Toby, have both tested their wares in Super League with success and Harvey is a bright prospect eager to break through.

"A mix of youth and experience is important in any squad and we will continue to invest in both.”
