WARRINGTON Wolves Under 19s team's season came to an end with a 46-16 defeat against Wigan in the Academy play-off semi final at Orrell on Sunday.

Wolves opened the scoring in the 13th minute when a quick 20m re-start from outstanding full back Declan Kay saw him break away down the middle and his perfectly timed offload found centre Richard Harris who raced 50 metres to score.

Stand off Harvey Livett converted but six minutes later Warriors replied when an inside ball from stand off Nick Gregson found prop forward Paddy Jones who powered over from close range. Gregson added the conversion to level the score.

Just before the half hour a Wigan pass out wide was knocked down by a Wolves defender and full back Gabriel Fell picked up and raced through a gap on a 30m run to score at the side of the posts.

Gregson converted and four minutes later a kick by Gregson behind the wolves defensive line saw centre Liam Paisley react quickest to collect and score wide out on the left.

On the stroke of half time a kick into the in-goal area by Gregson was fumbled by Wolves and Warriors winger Liam Marshall pounced on the loose ball to score in the left corner and give his side a 20-6 interval advantage.

Two minutes into the second half Wigan moved further ahead when substitute Josh Ganson went from dummy half to score at the side of the posts.

Gregson converted and 10 minutes later Marshall raced 80m down the middle of the field to score on the left.

Just before the hour mark Warriors hooker Luke Waterworth forced his way over from close range to score at the left of the posts.

Gregson added the extras but then four minutes later Warrington winger Ben Stansfield intercepted a Wigan pass and raced 60m to score wide out on the right. Livett landed the conversion.

Warriors came back almost immediately when a long ball from Gregson found Paisley who crashed over wide out on the left and then a fine break down the middle by Jones split the Wolves defence and he found Ganson in support to race over and Gregson converted.

Five minutes from time Wolves went down the blind side from a scrum on the halfway line and centre Charlie Phythian slipped a lovely ball to winger Jack Fox who raced away to score wide out on the left.

Warriors will now have home advantage in the Grand Final against St Helens.
