BEN Currie is eager to follow in the footsteps of some of his Warrington Wolves team-mates and play in a Ladbrokes Challenge Cup final.

But he is taking nothing for granted ahead of Saturday’s semi-final against Hull Kingston Rovers at Headingley Carnegie Stadium, kick off 12.45pm.

Nine of the current Warrington squad - six of Saturday's 19-man squad - have won Rugby League’s oldest competition at Wembley Stadium, where they last played in 2012, and Currie is hungry to claim his own place in Cup history.

Currie, aged 21, who has been one of the standout performers in First Utility Super League this season, is well aware of what awaits him at Wembley.

“The lads who have been there and done it before have spoken about how much of great occasion it is,” he said.

“It’s a massive build-up in the week leading up to it and people like Chris Hill and Richie Myler have talked about how great it is to play at such a big stadium.

“With them talking it up, I’d love to get there and win it, but we’re not looking too far ahead of ourselves. We’ve got to beat Hull KR first this weekend.”

There is an added incentive for the four teams left in the Challenge Cup with the winner guaranteed a place in next year’s World Club Series.

Currie won’t be underestimating Hull KR who beat the Wolves in their last Super League meeting.

“There are no easy games in the Cup, no matter who you play,” said Currie.

“Hull KR will be going into this confident they can beat us. They’ve got a good squad with players who can score from anywhere on the field.

“We’ve got guys who have been there and done it before so their experience is going to be important if we want to get to Wembley again.”

Tickets for the Ladbrokes Challenge Cup semi-final tie are still available with prices starting from £20 for adults and £10 for concessions.
