CASTLEFORD Tigers will go into Sunday’s clash with Warrington Wolves at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle, kick off 3.30pm, knowing the visitors cannot catch them before the Super League split.

The fixture will be the last of all Round 23 games to be played and Cas, sitting level on points with Huddersfield Giants, will be fighting for a top four spot that guarantees home advantage in four Super 8s games.

Wolves were comfortably beaten in this fixture last season, losing 40-6 on Easter Monday.

Michael Shenton's hat-trick and a James Clare double added to Jamie Ellis and Richard Owen tries.

Michael Monaghan scored in reply and Wolves took some reprieve with a play-offs win.

Wolves had recorded Super League doubles over Castleford in the previous two seasons, but that run came to an end in 2014 and they were also beaten by Daryl Powell’s side at home earlier this year.

Tries from Jordan Tansey, Luke Dorn, Adam Milber and Ben Roberts did the damage despite Stefan Ratchford, Ryan Atkins and Kevin Penny scores for the hosts.

Tigers have won five of their past Super League six games, putting 58 points on Wakefield last time out and also beating leaders Leeds Rhinos and St Helens in that spell.

Justin Carney and Denny Solomona are tied third top try scorers in the competition, while Grant Millington leads Tigers’ tackle count with 687 in Super League this season.
