LEE Briers was pleased to see his Warrington Wolves under 19s side ‘tough’ out a win against Salford Red Devils.

Tries from Harvey Livett, two, Harry Reardon, Daniel Murray and Morgan Smith helped Wolves to a 30-28 success at Crosfields.

“I am absolutely made up for the boys; they really had to dig deep and they certainly did that,” said Briers, the under 19s head coach.

“We had to do it tough, we lost both of our hookers within the opening half an hour, but the lads really did step up to the mark.

“We included nine players who are in their first year at this level and they really did come of age. Salford have had some good victories over the past couple of weeks so came into the game with confidence, but I though we stuck to our task superbly and really did deserve the victory.

“Harvey Livett has played the full 80 minutes at loose forward and got through an awful amount of work and Daniel Murray put in a great stint in the front row, completing over 70 minutes and never taking a backward step.

“It was great experience for the young guys to play in a game like that; it was wet and the ball was very slippy but they kept going and got their rewards with the win.”

Wolves face Catalans Dragons under 19s next Friday at The Halliwell Jones Stadium in a curtain-raiser to the Super League clash between the two sides; kick off is 5.30pm.
