LEE Briers hailed his Warrington Wolves under 19s squad as a “joy to coach” after they beat Castleford Tigers to move into the Academy League top four.
Tries from Jack Johnson, David Foggin-Johnston, Morgan Smith, Charlie Phythian, two, Daniel Hirst and Sam Wilde secured the visitors a 34-24 victory at The Mend-A-Hose Jungle on Saturday.
“We have quality throughout the squad and they are a joy to coach,” said under 19s head coach Briers.
“We have scored some top class tries which enabled us to get two very valuable league points.
“It was a brilliant all-round team effort and even when things were not going according to plan they never panicked.
“I am absolutely delighted for the lads; yet again they have really dug deep and got their rewards.
“It was a very keenly fought game and Castleford played a full part in it; they are a tough side to beat but the will to win that the boys have shone through once more.”
Briers takes his side to Bradford Bulls on Thursday, kick off 7.30pm.
