RICHIE Myler is pleased to be feeling good as the start of the new Super League season approaches.

Ankle surgery after the 2013 Grand Final meant he did not have the opportunity to undergo a full pre-season last time round.

But he looked sharp alongside half-back partner Gareth O’Brien on Sunday.

“I feel pretty fit and I’ve had a full pre-season, which always helps,” said the 24-year-old as he looks forward to his sixth campaign with Wolves.

“It’s been a tough pre-season and everybody’s ripped in and trained hard so we’re all excited about starting the season now.

“I’m starting to form a good relationship with Gaz O’Brien. He’s playing really well, kicked really well on Sunday and his reading of the ball-playing has been very good.

“We feed off each other but we’ve got that much talent in this squad that it’s tough for places and se everyone’s got to play well to get a spot.

“I’m happy that I’m fit, happy that I’m feeling good and I just want to keep playing well and stay in the team.”

Myler says the Wolves players are excited for the start of the campaign, which includes the World Club Series clash with Australian club St George Illawarra Steelers Friday, February 20 but first off a season-opener against his former club Salford Red Devils on Saturday, February 7.

"It's exciting and we're really buzzing about that game against St George-Illawarra," said Myler of a clash that opens a weekend series that sees the top three Super League clubs square up with NRL opposition - Wigan Warriors also face Brisbane Broncos on the Saturday and then the two reigning champions St Helens and South Sydney Rabbitohs battle for the world club title on the Sunday.

"The whole club's getting behind it, hopefully the fans will come out and watch what will be a good spectacle.

"The club's put a lot of effort into getting this new concept up and running and it's going to be a big thing.

"But that's round three, Salford are our first point of attack.

"Marwen Koukash  has invested heavily in Salford and the past couple of years it's not worked for them too much.

"But they've recruited really well again this year and they're going to want to start off as well as any team.

"Every squad will have had a really good pre-season and everyone will be hoping to do well.

"We hope to get the result but it's going to be a good and tough start to the year."
