THE changes to the Super League structure for 2015 will be vital for the game, according to new director Mike Lomax.

He believes the split in the summer - where the top eight will then compete in a new league to see who will compete in the Grand Final in October - will mean every game matters.

"When Leeds won from fifth, fans thought not every game was worth winning. Now that changes."

But he says the most significant opportunity will be the World Club Series.

Wolves take on St George Illawarra on February 20 as part of three games which pit Super League's best three sides against Australian counterparts.

"This is not a friendly. It is a fantastic opportunity to see some world class players.

"And it is important for Super League to show the NRL what we are about. And I believe it will be a great game. Tony Smith is really up for it," he said.

It is a memory of watching Warrington beat the Australians in 1978 which is among Mike's favourite. And he believes the St George clash can be equally special.

"I was there and it was a fantastic night."

Interim chief executive Norman Summers echoed his thoughts.

He said: "When we went to Australia last winter, one of the practice matches was against St George and by all accounts it got really tasty.

"So we are expecting something similar this time."
