WARRINGTON Wolves full back Matty Russell has returned to the UK midway through the team’s warm-weather training camp in Tenerife.

During a session, the Scotland international suffered trauma to his mouth and it required specialist intervention.

A Wolves statement reads: "The medical team deemed it was important for him to return to the UK to ensure he's ready for the start of the season.

"On the team's return, it is likely Matty will rejoin training."

Russell, star of the show in Wolves' recent friendly success against Widnes, suffered a mouth injury in the play-offs win against the same opposition last September.
