THREE Warrington Wolves players picked up knocks in last night’s friendly win over Widnes Vikings.
Matty Russell was withdrawn with a slight calf problem, while there were knocks for Ben Westwood, shoulder, and James Laithwaite, knee.
Ben Evans was named in the provisional squad but did not feature due to a hamstring problem.
However, boss Tony Smith expects to have a fully fit squad by the time Wolves face Toulouse and Hull KR in a double-header on January 25.
“Matty Russell was a little bit of a calf that we’ll look at, I think it’s a little bit of a strain,” explained Smith.
“Bennie Westwood took a knock to the shoulder, but I think he’s going to be ok. Laithwaite took a knock to the knee, he’ll be fine.
“Ben Evans we pulled out of the match, he had a bit of a twinge two days ago on his hamstring and we just didn’t want to risk him. He’ll play in our next friendly.
“I’m expecting all the boys who played to play our next friendly along with (Chris) Bridge, (Ryan) Atkins, (Chris) Hill and (Daryl) Clark.”
