A £500,000 development to allow Warrington Wolves to train indoor is taking shape at the club's training base.

The club, in association with JLJ Group, is building the facility at the University of Chester's, Warrington campus in Padgate.

It will house a 3G pitch and sit alongside the other training facilities already on site including the purpose-built gym, coaching and physio rooms, running track and training field.

The pitch will be primarily for use by the club and is due for completion mid-January.

Wolves’ head of coaching and rugby Tony Smith said: “In the past, when the bad weather hits and the pitches are unsuitable, we've had to search for an alternative, to now have this on our own site is fantastic.

"It will not only serve the first team and enhance our preparations but the academy will have full use of the facility to aid player development.

"There will also be times when the university and community will have access, so the benefits are far reaching. Simon Moran and the board need to be commended for making this happen.”
