SIMON Grix’s injury would have been career threatening at one time, says Wolves boss Tony Smith.
The 28-year-old loose forward, who broke two bones in his leg in Thursday’s win at St Helens and had an operation on Sunday, has since labelled the injury “a scratch”.
Head of coaching and rugby Smith, who has seen Grix cope with numerous previous difficult injury situations, said: “Anybody who watched the replay on TV will realise his foot was in completely the wrong direction for what a normal foot should be pointing.
“He was feeling shattered initially and obviously is still disappointed.
“However, he’s had to deal with some of this before. He’ll work hard and bounce back, probably for the start of next season.
“It’s an injury that once upon a time would have been career threatening, but with medical science the way it is nowadays he’ll make a good recovery.”
