Wigan's 21-6 home defeat of Challenge Cup winners Leeds Rhinos means the Yorkshiremen can no longer finish above Wolves in the table, being three points adrift.
Tony Smith's side could still end the season anywhere from second to fifth going into Thursday's final game of the regular season at Wigan.
