WOLVES under 19s head coach Lee Briers will not be making major changes after his side were beaten by Wigan Warriors.

It took Wolves until the 61st minute to respond to seven Wigan tries, with the visitors’ scores coming from Toby King, Jack Johnson and Ryan Maneely.

Wolves suffered their first defeat in 14 games last week to St Helens, but Briers is confident they can bounce back from successive losses against Castleford at The Halliwell Jones Stadium on Friday, 5.30pm.

“There is no need for us to go away and re-invent the wheel, we will just work really hard and make sure that we get the intensity back into our game for Castleford,” he said.

“Sometimes rugby is a simple game. Wigan ran hard, defended strong and out-enthused us for 60 minutes which is very uncommon for us as we have been fine all year.

“The last 20 minutes we started to play with confidence and throw the ball around, which allowed us to cause them plenty of problems and we got some reward for that.”

One positive to come out of the fixture was the 52 tackles made by back-rower Sam Wilde.

“A special mention must go to Sam Wilde,” added Briers. “He was absolutely outstanding, got through 52 tackles and really worked his socks off in defence as well as putting in some strong runs in attack.”
