MICHAEL Monaghan hailed not only his brother’s impressive strike rate but his impact on the younger players at Warrington Wolves.

Joel Monaghan made it 101 tries in 100 games for Wolves with two scores in the win over Catalan Dragons last Friday.

But joint-skipper Michael says the winger, who has spent time playing in the centres this season, is passing on valuable experience to Wolves’ younger backs.

“He’s scoring a lot of tries but his form in general has been very good for us since he’s been over here,” said the 34-year-old. “He adds a lot of experience to us.

“Hopefully some of the work he’s doing with the younger guys at the club will pay dividends a few years down the track when us older players have moved on.

“He’s been a really important buy for the club. Obviously he came over in less than ideal circumstances but he’s made the most of it.

“I’m sure the club feel like they’ve got reward for the faith they’ve put in him as well.”
