AUSTRALIAN pair Joel Monaghan and Trent Waterhouse were nursing injuries after Wolves’ win against Catalan Dragons last night.

Monaghan was withdrawn early in the second half with ‘tightness’ in his upper leg that nearly cost him appearing at all, while Waterhouse ‘rolled’ an ankle.

Head of coaching and rugby Tony Smith hopes that taking Monaghan out of the action will have prevented a more serious situation for the former Kangaroo Test international, who crossed for the 100th and 101st tries of his Warrington career in the first half.

“Joel was a little bit tight in the warm-up and he came off and got some treatment,” said Smith.

“We weren’t sure he was going to make it onto the park but he came through and did a pretty good job for us.

“He didn’t tear or pull anything, he was just tight. We’ve hopefully prevented injury by taking him off.”

He added: “Trent rolled his ankle, but it shouldn’t be too bad. We’ll see how he goes. Over the weekend he’ll get some treatment.”
