WARRINGTON Wolves under 19s can learn from their first defeat of the season at Leeds Rhinos.

Head coaches Danny Fullerton and Lee Briers expect a response from their young charges after a 38-6 loss to their Rhinos counterparts on Thursday.

But Briers says the defeat can prove a learning curve for the previously unbeaten side.

“We were disappointed with the result as we had come here in good form,” he said. “A win or a loss was never going to be the making of our season but this is a reality check for us and will give us a focus to improve going forward.

“It is a learning curve for us as you learn plenty about the lads following a defeat like this and we now have a fortnight before our next game and we will be working extremely hard in training to put things right.

“You have to credit Leeds as they played very well and made it an extremely difficult night for us.

“On the plus side Declan Kay had a solid game at full back for us on his debut whilst Sean Kenny, Joe Philbin and Sam Wilde all had a real dig and can be proud of their efforts.”
