Warrington Wolves u16 12 Wigan Warriors u16 16

WOLVES’ under 16s pushed Wigan to the wire at Victoria Park Arena.

It was the first Wolves game to be played at a complex that will become home to Warrington Academy in the future.

The shelter of the stand for the fans was welcome on a day of ice, rain and wind as two teams delivered in good spirit.

Head coach Gary Chambers said: "While we didn't win on the score board, I was pleased with the effort and hard work the lads put in.

“There were a lot of things in the game that we have been working on and everybody took a step forward from their last performance.

“I was delighted with the players' reaction post match and the focus on the areas we need to improve on."

Wolves led 6-0 and fell behind 12-6 but levelled matters by half time, leaving Wigan’s soliatry second-half try as the decisive score.

Centre Dan Norman and loose forward George Moore scored Warrington’s tries, with stand off Liam Aspin adding the goals.
