THIS week’s Challenge Cup fourth round draw pitted Warrington against Hull Kingston Rovers, a side Tony Smith expects to be back to full strength come Wolves’ visit.

Hull KR have not enjoyed a great start to their Super League 2014 campaign, with only a draw against Huddersfield Giants at the John Smith’s Stadium in round two to show for their efforts.

Defeats to Castleford Tigers, St Helens and Wigan Warriors have followed and the Challenge Cup draw means they will face Wolves in back-to-back fixtures at the beginning of April.

But Smith, Warrington’s head of coaching and rugby, feels the Robins have been hampered by early-season injuries and will be preparing his side for a tough fixture at the KC Lightstream Stadium (formerly known as Craven Park).

“They’re a good team and they’ve had a number of injuries, but I’m sure they’ll have a lot back by that stage,” he said.

“Warrington have had some howling games over there at different stages that I can recall.

“The ground over there is small, it’s a hostile atmosphere and some of our results haven’t been fantastic in the past, so we’ll have to make sure we’re on our game.”

However, once Thursday’s Super League clash with Wigan Warriors has passed, the Warrington boss says he will be focusing on a trip to Huddersfield Giants on Sunday, March 30.

“We will look forward to starting our Challenge Cup campaign with a tough one at Hull KR, which can be tricky,” he added.

“But there’s a lot of water to run under the bridge before we turn our attention there. We’re looking forward to the challenge of Huddersfield again.”
