London Broncos u19 4 Warrington Wolves u19 52

WOLVES were clinical in outclassing a big and tough London Broncos Academy team at Hemel Stags.

The extra skill and strength of the Warrington side made the difference after a tight opening quarter.

Wolves got the scoreboard moving on 20 minutes, when a 60-metre metre break down the middle by centre Toby King saw him brush off four defenders and a quick playy the ball saw the ball swung out wide to centre Harvey Livett who put winger David Johnston over in the right corner.

Livett converted and then four minutes later a penalty for Wolves put them into the Broncos half and from it prop forward George King powered through the defence and raced over wide on the left. Livett landed a fine touchline conversion.

The visitors continued to pile on the pressure and four minutes before half time they ran the ball on the last tackle and stand off Louis Jouffret’s bullet pass found substitute Tom Walker who barged over between the posts.

Livett converted and then in the final minute of the half a 40/20 by scrum half Declan Patton set Wolves up and from the scrum Walker forced his way over from close range. Livett added the conversion to give his side a commanding 24-0 interval advantage.

Wolves increased their lead two minutes into the second half when a penalty put them deep into the Broncos half and after Patton had been held just short, loose forward Ryan Maneely outfoxed the defence by going on his own from dummy half to score on the left.

Three minutes later London hit back when a kick to the corner by scrum half Joe Keyes was fumbled by Wolves and stand off Rich Harris picked up the loose ball to score wide out on the left.

Just before the hour a moment of individual brilliance by Jouffret saw him chip the ball behind the Broncos defence and he rounded the defence to reach it first and touchdown.

Livett goaled and then shortly afterwards a fine run by second row Joe Philbin saw him split the Broncos defence and he found prop forward Daniel Murray supporting on his inside to score at the left of the posts. Livett again added the conversion.

Wolves winger Jake Eccleston collected the re-start from the kick-off inside his own in-goal area and he went down the left before slipping a lovely ball to Toby King who raced 80 metres to score wide out.

Livett added the conversion and then in the final minute a 50-metre break down the middle by Sam Wilde saw him brush off four attempted tacklers before finding full back Jack Johnson who raced over at the side of the posts to bring up the half century. Livett landed his eighth goal of the afternoon to complete a fine 52-4 success.
