LEE Briers has been busy during the first week of his Australian coaching trip.

The former Wolves stand off and current under 19s Academy coach arrived in Sydney on Saturday, March 1 and wasted no time in hooking up with a former teammate, Aussie legend Andrew Johns.

Briers even managed to drop in on Johns’ son’s birthday party, but had to cut the partying short due to jet lag.

The 35-year-old playmaker is due to spend a week apiece with three different NRL teams - Manly Sea Eagles, Newcastle Knights and Parramatta Eels - as they prepare for matches, hoping to glean some coaching tips to use with Wolves’ youngsters back in the UK.

First on his list was Manly, with whom he checked in on Monday.

“I spent the week watching closely for anything I can pick up on,” he said on his personal website, LeeBriers.com

“Everyone at the club makes me feel more than welcome.

“It's quite weird really, as they are pretty much set up like the Wolves are.

“We have more or less the same schedule and same training routines!

“Though I think I've brought the English weather with me, because it's rained every day!”

Briers has also been shadowing Johns during the latter’s media duties, visiting the Allianz Stadium while Johns interviewed roosters fullback Anthony Minichiello ahead of Thursday’s game between South Sydney Rabbitohs and Sydney Roosters.

Briers is updating his coaching blog from Australia and new posts can be found at www.leebriers.com
