For Wolves, pre-season fitness training showed in the second half when they posted the last three tries.

Academy coach Gary Chambers said: “We made the call not to play our England representatives and to give the younger players an opportunity to demonstrate what they have learnt during pre-season and they put in good performances.

“We were creative and maybe with some slightly better execution the result could have been different.”
