AT least one of Warrington Wolves' 2014 signings will not figure against Leeds Rhinos in this week's Super League round two battle.

Full back Matty Russell still has to fully shake off an ankle problem that he brought back with him from the club's pre-season training camp in Australia.

His only appearance in primrose and blue so far came in the friendly at Widnes Vikings on December 29.

Wolves' head of coaching and rugby Tony Smith said: "It will be another week or so for Matty.

"We were hoping he might have been ahead of schedule, which is week three."

The Scotland international, a Wiganer who spent 2013 in the under 20s competition with NRL club Gold Coast Titans, is now expected to come into contention for the home clash with Hull FC on Sunday, March 2.

Smith has not ruled out his first appearance being away from Wolves' first team though, which could mean an appearance with partner club Swinton Lions in the Kingstone Press Championship.
