KEVIN Penny is in line to appear for Warrington Wolves' partner club Swinton Lions on Sunday when they opened their Kingstone Press Championship campaign at Halifax.
Lions skipper Ritchie Hawkyard is unavailable due to concussion sustained in last weekend's friendly defeat to Oldham and so Penny has been drafted in to help out his former teammates.
All Wolves players eligible for the dual registration scheme are on it, allowing the freedom to appear in Swinton colours when required to do so.
Swinton player-coach Ian Watson said: “It’s going to be a long season and we need to look at the long term rather than the short term.
“We won't know the team until the last minute because we have a couple coming back from injury.
“It’s great to have Kev Penny available for this game. He was our best player last season and has been training really well for Warrington.
“He is waiting for his opportunity there and he’s more than happy to come back and play for us.”
