WARRINGTON Wolves are gearing up for a night to remember on Thursday.

It promises to be eventful as The Halliwell Jones Stadium’s 10th anniversary is marked by the opening game of Super League 2014.

Wolves versus Saints matches are always full of drama, controversy, twists and turns.

But before that emotional rollercoaster gets underway at 8pm, supporters will have the chance to listen to the voice of Michael Collings, a finalist in Britain’s Got Talent in 2011 and renowned for his rendition of ‘Fast Car’ with more than 25 million views on YouTube.

In a nice touch and a nod to the family stadium atmosphere built up since the doors opened in 2004, mascot Wolfie welcome children on to the pitch who are celebrating their 10th birthday during February.

It will also be an occasion to say goodbye to an old friend and one of the club’s most colourful characters.

Club ambassador Alex Murphy OBE will lead a host of former Warrington stars in a minute’s applause in memory of Roy ‘Ockher’ Aspinall.

Roy, who died last month aged 76 and hailed from Thatto Heath in St Helens, was kitman and groundsman at the club’s former Wilderspool Stadium home for more than 30 years.

Then the match will kick in, with Wolves making their first competitive appearance since the Grand Final loss to Wigan Warriors at Old Trafford in October.

Full debuts are on the cards for new prop signings Roy Asotasi and Anthony England as Wolves aim to get their fresh title tilt off to the perfect start with what would be only their second home win against Saints in 10 years at The Halliwell Jones Stadium.
