THREE of Tony Smith’s back-room staff have been tied to extended contracts as Wolves continue down a road of stability.

First-team coaches Willie Poching and Richard Marshall, as well as head of strength and conditioning Chris Baron, remain on board until next November at least.

Smith, Wolves’ head of coaching and rugby, said: “As a club we look to maintain stability both within the playing and coaching staff.

“The last few years have seen the club grow year-on-year, continuing to compete at the top level and as such I am pleased that these coaches are staying on to help continue to build this great club.

“I look forward to working with them all during the forthcoming season as we look to bring more of our young players through and build on the experience of the more senior members of the squad.”

The confirmation of the trio’s contract update comes soon after the promotion of Ben Lazenby to another of the club’s key roles, taking charge of Wolves’ youth and junior development department.

Former Leeds Rhinos, Wakefield Trinity and New Zealand back rower Poching joined the coaching staff ahead of 2011.

Ex-Halifax, Huddersfield, London, Leigh and Ireland prop Marshall stepped up to the first-team set-up ahead of the 2010 season, while maintaining his input into the academy system.

Baron joined from Leicester Tigers rugby union team at the end of Smith’s first season in charge and is also recognised as the strength and conditioning coach for England’s international team, accompanying Steve McNamara throughout the World Cup tournament.
