Warrington Wolves missing three players for trip to Langtree Park
WOLVES boss Tony Smith has decided to give Ryan Atkins and Brett Hodgson another week to recover from their injuries rather than risk them against St Helens on Friday, kick off 8pm.
But Warrington welcome Lee Briers, Adrian Morley and Garreth Carvell back into the side to face Saints at Langtree Park tomorrow, while Gareth O’Brien (Saints loan) and Rhys Evans (broken foot) are also named in the 19-man squad.
Atkins (ankle) and Hodgson (concussion) are now poised to make their returns against Catalan Dragons in France next week.
“We’re pretty good, we have got only three players that won’t be available for this game,” he said.
“One will be Hodgson, and we will not have Atkins or Richie Myler back either, but the rest are pretty much fit and healthy.”
Hodgson was knocked out by the high tackle that led to Widnes Vikings forward Hep Cahill receiving a two-match suspension a fortnight ago.
Smith said: “Brett has had some stitching and has been suffering headaches. He was concussed, so we will give him another week considering the knock that he took.”
Atkins has been out of action with an ankle injury since July, but has recently been working on an anti-gravity treadmill to speed up his recovery before the end of the regular season.
Briers and Carvell have recovered from small bumps and bruises, while skipper Morley has recovered from a dead leg suffered against Castleford.
Myler’s recovery from a medial ligament injury sustained in the same match looks set to continue well into the play-off stages.
