Smith refuses to rule out Myler
2:31pm Thursday 15th August 2013 in Wolves news
TONY Smith has refused to rule out Richie Myler’s return before the end of the season.
But Wolves’ head of coaching and rugby accepts that the 23-year-old half back faces a difficult task after he suffered a repeat of the medial ligament strain that had previously kept him out of action for six weeks.
“He is in a brace, but it is not bad enough for an operation,” said Smith.
“Whether the recovery is in time for him to resume playing for us this season or not is down to Richie.
“History and Richie’s past recuperations have shown that he recovers well, so we’ll give him every chance and he certainly won’t have ruled out a return.”
Smith welcomes Mike Cooper back into his squad to face Widnes at The Halliwell Jones Stadium tonight, Thursday, kick off 8pm, but Adrian Morley, Lee Briers and Ryan Atkins will have to wait at least until the trip to Saints on August 30 before returning from injury.
It looks likely that Wolves will take on their ‘derby’ rivals with a similar-looking side to the one that beat Wakefield on Saturday.
