BRETT Hodgson’s departure in the second half of Wolves’ win at Hull FC was a case of wrapping up ‘the old man’ in cotton wool.

Wolves boss Tony Smith said there was no need to leave him on the pitch when the game was won, indicating there is no injury to be concerned about.

“He’s fine,” said Smith.

“He came under a bit of attention. They isolated him with some of their kicking, which is going to happen.

“I just thought once the scoreline got to where it had got to, I’d get the hot bath running for the old fellow so that he could put his feet up with maybe a little rug over the top of it and with a hot cocoa.”

He believes at this stage Wolves have taken no serious knocks from the third win of the season.
