BEN Westwood’s testimonial match against Wigan Warriors is under threat due to the heavy snowfall.

Warrington Wolves have admitted that the Halliwell Jones Stadium pitch is at the mercy of the weather ahead of the scheduled ‘Betfred Challenge’ clash on Saturday, kick off 3pm, which was due to be Wolves’ last warm-up match before their Super League opener against Castleford Tigers next Sunday.

Wolves’ chief executive Andy Gatcliffe said: “We will probably wait until Thursday and then see where we are with the weather.

“You can’t even put the covers down at the moment, if you put them down you’ll never get them off again because of the snow.

“The forecast says it is due to stop snowing today and will start to brighten up from there.

“There is no further snow forecast for the rest of the week, so we will see if it warms up a bit and starts to thaw.

“We’ll look at the pitch Wednesday or Thursday and see where we stand, though we will do all we can to get the game on.”
