CHRIS Hill says England will have to overcome the ‘best team in the world’ in Saturday’s Rugby League World Cup semi-final.

He and his England teammates will take on New Zealand at Wembley, kick off 1pm, in the first semi-final of a double header that also sees Australia tackle Fiji.

And the Warrington Wolves prop knows the home side will have to be at their best if they want to make next weekend’s final at Old Trafford.

“They are the best team in the world for me and we will have to get ourselves up for it if we are going to challenge them.

“But there is no better place than Wembley, the national stadium for that. We have to be at our best and I think we will be.

“We know it is a challenge, but one good performance and we are in the final,” he said.

The 26-year-old has been one of England’s standout performers in the tournament so far, but knows the side will have to improve from the scrappy win over France at Wigan on Saturday night.

“We were a bit lacklustre, we gave a lot of ball away.

“But we have a massive week ahead of us to fix it up in a big stadium against New Zealand.

“I threw a couple of offloads I didn't need to. We will get better for next week.”

Hill was back in the starting line-up at the DW alongside NRL star James Graham after making a massive impact from the bench in the previous week’s win over Fiji.

But he is happy just to pull on the red and white shirt.

“As long as I am in the 17, I don’t mind where I start – on the pitch or from the bench. It doesn’t matter to me,” he said.

Wherever he does start, he can expect to be called by his Sunday name again – being referred on the scoreboard and by the announcer as ‘Christopher Hill’ on Saturday night.

“I am not sure where that came from, I have not been called that since I was about 10 I think. But it is my name I suppose!” he joked.
