SAINTS’ James Roby believes England can get their act together for next weekend’s World Cup semi final showdown with defending champions New Zealand at Wembley.

England had been improving with each game during the tournament but only showed their capability in flashes in last night’s quarter-final success against France at the DW Stadium in Wigan.

“We were pretty disappointed because we know we could have played a lot better than we did,” said Roby, who figured at hooker from the 20th until 70th minutes after coming off the bench to replace Wigan Warriors’ Michael McIlorum.

“We were all right in little spells but just very inconsistent throughout the night.

“There were too many errors, that was the most disappointing thing.

“You can’t afford to give quality teams that much possession and we’re lucky we got the in in terms of the way we played.

“It’s not massive things we need to improve on, it’s just little things.

“Everything’s been going well in training, preparation has been going fine.

“It’s just for some reason on the pitch we didn’t perform and that’s our fault as players, and it’s our job as players to rectify that.

“The important thing is we’re through to the semi final and we’re made up with that.”
