THREE-TIMES Challenge Cup winner with Warrington Wolves Ben Westwood says he can see signs of Wembley 2009, 2010 and 2012 in this year’s squad.

The Wire booked a semi-final with Leeds Rhinos at the Macron Stadium in Bolton on Sunday, August 5, kick-off 2.45pm, thanks to Saturday’s 23-0 win against Wigan.

Westwood, also a defeated finalist with The Wire in 2016, can see the qualities in the squad that are required to win the prestigious competition.

How the players get on with each other, the quality of the work in training, confidence and belief are all considered important elements of a successful cup run.

“Most definitely I can see signs,” said the 36-year-old forward.

“The team unity that we have is second to none.

“You can see a confidence in the players, especially at training.

“We really do train hard. There’s a couple of sessions per week where we’re running hard at each other and tackling hard.

“It’s paying off. We’ve got a lot of belief in the team and you can see from the smiles on people’s faces that they really want to be here and really want to play.

“If you’ve got all of that then you’re in with a chance.”
