JOSH Charnley says he is happy with the impact he has made since joining The Wire.

The England international’s strike rate since making his debut in the Good Friday derby win over Widnes Vikings is an impressive one, having scored 10 tries in seven appearances for Warrington.

Charnley is feeling his way back into life in rugby league after an 18-month spell with union side Sale Sharks, which followed a distinguished league career with Wigan.

He says his brief time with Wolves has made him realise how much he has missed the 13-man game.

“I’m happy with how it’s going. I was out of the game for 18 months, but I wanted to make an immediate impact coming back,” he said.

“I knew I could do it and I feel like I have done it so far.

“I’ve grown up playing rugby league. I started when I was six so it wasn’t lost easily!

“I know I was away for a while and there was new rules that I had to pick up, but getting back into it has been a nice fresh start.

“I wanted to give union a go, because I didn’t want to have any regrets in life.

“I never used to watch league when I played, but when I was in union I watched Super League every week.

“I have kept an eye on it, but being back has made me realise how much I missed the game.”

Charnley will aim to extend his superb start to life in primrose and blue by racking up more tries in tomorrow’s Challenge Cup sixth round clash with Toronto Wolfpack.

The Canadian outfit ply their trade in the Championship, but Charnley says they deserve his side’s full respect.

“We have to turn up and do our job,” he said.

“They have a lot of ex-Super League players and ex-NRL players in their team.

“They have quality throughout their team, so we have to give them as much respect as possible.”
