FOR Bryson Goodwin, tomorrow’s Challenge Cup tie with Toronto Wolfpack gives him a chance to catch up with some old friends.

The experienced centre is likely to be part of the Wire team that aims to reach the quarter-finals by seeing off the Canadian side at The Halliwell Jones Stadium.

Goodwin has good Challenge Cup form as well, having scored a hat-trick in his first appearance in the competition – last month’s 54-6 win over Bradford Bulls in round five.

The New Zealand international revealed he will be lining up against plenty of familiar faces on Sunday.

“I grew up with Corey Paterson as a young kid back in Australia,” he said.

“We spent a lot of time together as kids and went to the same school.

“I’m close friends with Chase Stanley as well having played with him for New Zealand.

“It will be good for me to play against a few guys I know, but we’ll be going all out to win.”

Goodwin came off with a head injury during The Wire’s 33-22 win over Leeds last Friday having initially tried to play on.

The extended turnaround has worked in his favour and he says he is good to go for tomorrow afternoon.

The 32-year-old also says his family are continuing to settle into life in England well.

“The head is all good. We’ve gone through all the tests and I’m ready to play on Sunday,” he said.

“It was just one of those things, it happens in our sport.

“Coming off was the smart thing to do.

“We’ve settled in fine. From day one, it’s been pretty great.

“We’re really enjoying out time here at the moment.

“We just hope the nice weather we’ve had lately hangs around a little more!”
