Cooper signs new deal with Wire

The 29-year-old Warrington-born forward says he is happy to remain working under Steve Price and to continue living his boyhood dream of playing for The Wire.

“I’m really happy to be staying. At this stage in my career I’m not looking to go anywhere else,” he said.

“It’s always your dream as a kid to play for this town. I was a fan before I signed, I am still a fan now and always will be.

“For me, the longer I can play here at Warrington, the better.

“I’ve been coached by Pricey before at St George and I’m enjoying working with him again.

“I’m enjoying my role within the club and the way the team is bonding with what Pricey, Hendo and Briersy have brought in.”

Cooper has played an integral role in a Wire side that has won nine games in a row in all competitions.

He says the bond between the players is closer than it ever has been.

“We’ve created a tough steel behind the club and we’re going about everything in the right way.

“We’ve never had as tight a group of players as we have now. The positivity around the camp is brilliant.

“It’s a really positive place and somewhere you want to be playing at, and I have no doubt we will be winning trophies here in the future.”
