MIKE Cooper has signed a new contract with Warrington Wolves, the club have confirmed.
The prop’s deal was due to expire at the end of next year, but he has now signed fresh terms to keep him at the club until November 2020.
Cooper has made 172 appearances for The Wire over two spells at his hometown club having returned last year from NRL side St George Illawarra Dragons.
He made his first-team debut for Wolves in 2006 before leaving for Australia at the end of the 2013 season.
Wire head coach Steve Price, who brought Cooper to Australia during his spell as Dragons boss, says the decision to extend the England man’s deal was a simple one.
“Mike’s still got a lot of good years ahead of him; the players love playing with him so it was an easy one,” Wire head coach Steve Price said.
“I was the one who got Mike over to Australia. I know what he’s about.
“He’s been first class. He drives good standards at training and he’s been one of our most consistent performers this season to date.”
