HARVEY Livett says he has been working on muscling up to suit what head coach Steve Price wants from him.

The academy graduate has played four times this season, the latest of which came in Saturday’s 54-6 win at Bradford.

Livett gave a solid display off the bench and remains in the squad for the Super League clash with Huddersfield Giants tomorrow, Friday.

Having played most of his rugby last year in the centres and halves, the 21-year-old says Price has earmarked him for a role down the middle for The Wire.

“I’ve put a bit of size on, but it’s all about me keeping my fitness,” he said.

“I’ve been doing a lot of work with Jon Clarke on that to keep it ticking over.

“Steve wants me as a loose forward or second rower, but that’s where I always knew I would end up.

“I do enjoy it there, so whenever I can get my chance there I’ll take it with both hands.

“We’ve got a small squad, so if we do pick up a few injuries I can play in a few different positions.”

While he has not been in the Wire first team, Livett has been featuring for partner club Rochdale Hornets on dual registration.

He has made four appearances for Alan Kilshaw’s side – scoring a try and kicking nine goals in the process – and he says playing there has been valuable for him.

“You don’t want to be sat on the sidelines not playing for a few weeks as you lose your fitness,” he said.

“Going down to Rochdale is good to keep ticking over so that when the call does come to step up, I’m ready to go.

“It’s a much slower game. The Championships is still a tough league, but it’s much faster up in Super League.

“The lads are good down there and I do enjoy it. It’s good to get some game time.”
