WOLVES’ young Academy side will head to Wigan on Saturday aiming to return to winning ways.

Head coach Stuart Barrow felt his under 19s side were much improved to the previous loss against London Broncos in an entertaining derby at Victoria Park at the weekend but ultimately did not help their own cause.

“It is disappointing to not get anything out of the game but I could not fault the effort of all the lads,” said Barrow.

“Last week was very poor but the boys reacted to that and gave their all.

“We were guilty of some errors at crucial times and that is what has hurt us but they are young lads and they are learning all the time.

“We just need to continue to work hard on the training field and iron out the mistakes that are costing us dearly.”

The two sides took turns in scoring, with Wolves leading 10-6 at one stage in the first half, but Widnes put themselves out of reach in the final 10 minutes.

Warrington’s tries were scored by Jordan Olmez (6mins), Lewis Hall (13), Cole Oakley (35), Taylor Brown (42), and Henry Collins (77).

Saturday’s clash with Wigan is scheduled for a noon kick-off at Edge Hall Road.
