RYAN Atkins will miss Saturday’s trip to Catalans Dragons with an abductor muscle injury, Wire head coach Steve Price has confirmed.

The centre limped out during the second half of Friday’s 30-12 defeat to St Helens, with Harvey Livett taking his place in the centres.

Atkins had surgery on his abductor muscle during the off-season, but Price says he will be monitored “week-to-week.”

In more positive injury news, Price also confirmed Bryson Goodwin and Mike Cooper are in the mix for the trip to Perpignan.

Goodwin missed the Saints game with a knee injury, while Cooper was taken off with a head knock.

Price also provided an update on the fitness of Ben Currie, who has missed the past two games with a knee injury of his own.

“Bryson Goodwin’s back in the frame and that’s a big asset for us,” he said.

“He’s an important member of our footy team and he’s highly respected.

“He was close last week but just pulled up a little bit sore in captain’s run. It’s very pleasing to have him back.

“Ryan’s got a little strain in his abductor muscle, so he’ll miss this week.

“We’re not quite sure on a timescale for Ryan at the moment. It’s a week-to-week proposition.

“Mike Cooper passed his head test. I’ve been really pleased with how he’s going.

“He’s been doing a really good job for us so I’m really pleased he’s come through.

“Ben’s rehab is progressing really well. He had a bit of a run on Wednesday and the swelling is coming down.”
