WOLVES head coach Steve Price said he got plenty out of his first game in charge.
The Wire were staring down the barrel of a very big gun at 26-0 behind after 45 minutes but found a way to change the momentum before falling 26-22 to Widnes Vikings at the Halton Stadium.
"It was a game of two halves. I was disappointed with the first 40 minutes and our intent," he said.
"I hadn't seen too much of that prior to the game but it's good to get it out in the open. That's what trials are for.
"We went out in the second half, found our way and played some reasonable footy to get back in the fight.
"Everything is about ruck speed. If you can't control that you're always on the back foot.
"We know where we need to improve in our next trial games against Rochdale and Salford."
