HARRIET Knowles-Jones has been rewarded for her fine form with a place in Great Britain’s team for a major cross country event.

The 19-year-old is named in the senior women’s squad for the Great Edinburgh Cross Country on Saturday, January 13.

Knowles-Jones steps up to senior level after taking gold in her final race as a junior athlete, the women’s under 20s race at the European Cross Country Championships in Samorin, Slovakia, earlier this month.

The 19-year-old has previous success at the Edinburgh event after winning the junior women’s race in January this year.

Elsewhere, five Warrington Athletics Club members were at SportCity on Sunday for Sale Harriers’ open indoor meeting.

Joe Williams impressed in the under 20s age group, winning the 60m hurdles in 9.25secs and coming joint-fourth in the high jump by clearing 1.70m.

In the same age group, Tom Baines finished third in the 600m, clocking 1min 22.32secs, as did Elizabeth Wright in the 300m with a time of 45.18secs.

Tristan Hall was second in the under 17s 300m in 38.82secs and Laura Armstrong was sixth in the under 13s 60m.
