WHILE hooker Daryl Clark is said to be “training the house down” there are three youngsters also catching the eye in Warrington Wolves’ pre-season sessions.

Academy players Ellis Robson, Joe Pilling and Joe Edge are participating in the full-time programme under head coach Steve Price alongside established first-team squad players.

As new signings have arrived to join and give the squad a lift through this gruelling period, the work of the youngsters has been great for everyone too according to head of strength and conditioning Jon Clarke.

“Ellis Robson, Joe Pilling and Joe Edge have been training with us every day and they have been fantastic,” said Clarke.

“To be honest, we’re talking about senior players giving the place a lift - well, those three have.

“All three of them have turned up with a smile on their face every day and have applied themselves as best they can in giving everything they’ve got to take the opportunity they’ve been given.

“They’ve been absolutely great in and around the place and hopefully they’ll get a chance over the course of the season to prove what they’ve got.

“They’re with us until Christmas and then we’ll reassess.”

Clarke highlighted how well the new signings have settled in, with good pals Bryson Goodwin and Mitch Brown catching his eye following their arrival from South Sydney Rabbitohs and Leigh Centurions respectively.

Several other players have also impressed Clarke with their efforts.

“They’ve been excellent,” he said.

“Bryson and Mitch slotted straight in and really added to the group.

“Bryson’s been in a very good regime for quite a number of years over at Souths playing in the NRL, so he goes about his business in a very professional way.

“Brown is the same to be fair. He knows how to be a good pro.”

Also busy at work are fellow new boys Tyrone Roberts from Gold Coast Titans and Sita Akauola from Penrith Panthers.

“Tyrone’s settling in, Sita’s working hard, so we’re ticking along okay,” said Clarke.

“Everything’s been good, really positive. The lads are applying themselves really well.

“Daryl Clark has certainly got the bit between his teeth and has been training the house down, so have other lads. Jack Johnson has been fantastic too.”
