BEN Westwood has offered advice to his Wolves teammates who were involved in the heartbreaking Rugby League World Cup Final defeat.

Chris Hill, Kevin Brown and Ben Currie all started England’s agonising 6-0 defeat to hosts Australia in the final at Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium.

The club’s England contingent, which also included Stefan Ratchford, are likely to report back to pre-season training in the new year after arriving back in the UK on Tuesday.

Westwood, along with Hill, played in another heartbreaking defeat for England at the 2013 tournament when New Zealand beat them in the semi final thanks to a last-minute Shaun Johnson try.

He says he would advise the Wolves trio to “get away from the game” for a while before returning to Wolves.

“It’s probably the best performance we’ve had against Australia,” he said.

“What people have to remember is they have been away from their wives and kids for a good eight weeks for this tournament.

“They’re going to have a bit of time off now and they need to get away from the game for a bit.

“They need to get away from anything to do with rugby for a few weeks and have a good Christmas with their families.

“It’s important for them to get off on a holiday if they can, come back refreshed and take the positives from the World Cup into the coming year.”
