ANDREW Henderson says his new role as Wolves assistant coach will take his coaching “to the next level.”

The former Scotland international hooker has been confirmed as new head coach Steve Price’s second in command.

Henderson joins Price as Wolves assistant

Henderson, whose London Broncos side were impressive in defeat to The Wire in this year’s Middle 8s, says he has been impressed with the attitude Price has shown during their conversations.

The 38-year-old believes they can rebuild Wolves together, along with assistant first-team coach Lee Briers.

“It is a fantastic opportunity presented to me by Warrington. The potential Warrington has to become a stronger club is there,” he said.

“The club has built a solid infrastructure and superb facilities in recent years.

“I think as a team, they had a disappointing year for their standards, but I believe there is some exciting young talent as well some good senior professionals who can lead the team forward.

“I’m excited to be supporting Steve and the staff to rebuild this team and help the club move forward as we strive for excellence.

“I have spoken to Steve at length and was impressed with his attitude and the changes he wants to make.

“I think he’s worked hard in the NRL over a number of years and comes to Warrington with a good grounding and good knowledge from the coaches he’s worked under and the environments he has been in.

“I’m confident having spoken to him that he’ll be able to drive the changes needed to put Warrington back on track and moving forward with myself and the performance team supporting him.”

Henderson has led the Broncos to second place in the Championship and a place in the Middle 8s in the past two seasons.

However, he felt the time was right for him to move on and develop further.

“My experience at London has given me good grounding for this next step in my career,” he said.

“I’ve learnt a lot and thoroughly enjoyed my time at the Broncos, getting them back to a credible stage for them to be able to now kick on.

“However, I feel the time is right for me to move to the next level in this role.

“I can only thank London Chairman David Hughes for giving me the opportunity and supporting me now in this move.

“I’m looking forward to bringing my experience and knowledge to a great group of players and playing my part in them reaching their potential and performing to our standards.”
