TONY Smith says Sunday’s 68-0 thrashing of Featherstone Rovers was “as complete a performance as he could expect” from his Wolves side.

The Wire ran in 12 tries at Post Office Road as they racked up their biggest score of the season, with Peta Hiku scoring a hat-trick and Harvey Livett notching a 28-point personal haul which included two tries and 10 conversions.

Jack Hughes and Jack Johnson also scored twice, with Stefan Ratchford, Ben Pomeroy and Andre Savelio also crossing.

“From start to finish, I thought we were really good,” Smith said.

“We didn’t drop off in anything, so it’s hard to fault.

“It was as complete a performance as you could expect and hope for in the circumstances, it was terrific and they showed great attitude.”

Plenty of Wolves players came in for praise after the game, but Smith said New Zealand international Hiku was “a stand-out by a long shot.”

“Peta was class, he put in a tremendous display,” he said.

“We felt if we gave him the ball, he would make something happen and he did most of the time.

“He was a stand-out by a long shot.

“Ben Currie was terrific, he did 80 minutes easily today. There was a lot of stoppages in play, which helped him but he’ll be better for that run.

“Daz Clark was solid, we didn’t want to overplay him and break him down again so we did him in two stints.

“Ben Pomeroy did well but he just cramped up, which is fair enough and understandable as he hasn’t done a lot of training in the past six weeks.

“Everybody got a good run out and we came through good.”
