TODAY’S opponents Featherstone Rovers are “almost Wigan-like” in the way they play the game, Wolves boss Tony Smith said.

Rovers, whose head coach Jon Duffy started his career with Warrington, have yet to win in this season’s Qualifiers having drawn one and lost four of their five games so far.

Having also conceded 184 points, an average of just over 36 per game, Duffy’s side also hold ignominious honour of having the Middle 8s’ worst defence.

However, Smith was keen to point out the threats Rovers will pose in attack at Post Office Road this afternoon and compared them to their near neighbours.

“They’ve got their set plays that they go through regularly and they are very good at it,” he said.

“It’s almost Wigan-like from a couple of years ago, although Wigan don’t necessarily play that way anymore.

“They are really set in their ways in the way they attack.

“We know what’s coming, it’s just whether we can stop it and hopefully we can.”

The Wire have not visited Post Office Road since a 56-8 Challenge Cup victory in May 2009, the start of a run that led them to winning the trophy at Wembley.

Richie Mathers, on debut after becoming Smith’s first signing for Warrington, and Chris Hicks scored twice each, while Michael Monaghan, Paul Wood, Ben Harrison, Chris Riley and Chris Bridge also crossed.
