KEVIN Brown says he “doesn’t care” what sort of reception he gets on his first return to former club Widnes Vikings tonight.

The 32-year-old joined Wolves from their near neighbours in December and has faced Denis Betts’ side twice since then, both times at The Halliwell Jones Stadium.

Vikings fans made their dislike for the England stand-off known in both fixtures, but on the eve of his first game back at the Halton Stadium, Brown is unfazed by the potentially hostile reception.

“I don’t care, I really don’t. It doesn’t worry me,” he said.

“I left Widnes on really good terms. I have a lot of love for the club and everybody there.

“If the fans boo me, that’s fine.

“I’ve got no regrets, people having a pop at me comes with the territory of it.

“It’s not the first time I’ve been booed or chanted at, if I let that sort of thing affect me I don’t think I’d have got as far as I have done in my career.”

Brown’s two games against his former side this season have yielded four tries, including a hat-trick in The Wire’s 34-20 Challenge Cup sixth round victory on May 14.

As well as ill feelings from the terraces, Brown says he will have to be ready for extra aggression on the field from his old colleagues.

“You don’t need any more motivation when there’s thousands of fans calling you certain things,” he said.

“The Widnes players will want to get stuck into me and make the fans cheer that bit louder.

“For me, it’s all about being professional. I love the challenge of playing in that atmosphere.”
