A CHALLENGE on Warrington Wolves back rower Ben Currie in Thursday's win against Widnes Vikings has led to a two-match ban for Alex Gerrard.
Vikings prop Gerrard is deemed to have made dangerous contact on Currie, who did not appear for the second half in his second comeback game after 10 months out from a torn anterior cruciate ligament.
He was handed a Grade C charge decision from the Rugby Football League Match Review Panel with the option of an early guilty plea, which Gerrard chose to exercise.
Dangerous contact is deemed to have occurred when a defender uses any part of his body forcefully to twist, bend or otherwise apply pressure to the limb or limbs of an opposing player in a way that involves an unacceptable risk of injury to that player.
